Institutional Activities Coordinator - MECC
About the role
The Missouri Department of Corrections is an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace. Plans/develops/coordinates new or revised facility activity programs, including offender organizations, work release and/or education release; monitors files and works with facility treatment teams; schedules and supervises offender groups or workers; assists offender groups in selecting community projects; enlists support from volunteer and professional groups; performs work according to established rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Makes referrals to appropriate community service or job sites
- Schedules and supervises offender groups or workers functioning outside the facility
- Schedules volunteer and related groups for visits to the facility
- Affords support to offender groups in selecting community projects
- Enlists the support of interested volunteer and professional groups and employers in making their programs or jobs available to offenders
Requirements
- Four or more years of correctional experience, or vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework, guidance and counseling, mental health, health, substance abuse, law enforcement, public or business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year

Must perform work in accordance with established rules and regulations; receives general and administrative direction; and preforms other related work as assigned.

Pay
The annual salary listed for this position includes the additional $0.75 per hour medium security differential ($1,560 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a medium-security institution.
Schedule
Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.
