Institutional Activities Coordinator - SCCC

The annual salary listed for this position includes the additional $1.50 per hour maximum security differential ($3,120 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a maximum-security institution.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and coordinates new or revised facility activity programs, including offender organizations, work release, and/or education release.
• Confers with supervisors and various facility department heads regarding activity planning and scheduling to develop a more comprehensive program.
• Monitors files and works with facility treatment teams to identify offenders eligible for participation in program activities; maintains records of eligible participants and makes referrals to appropriate community service or job sites.
• Schedules and supervises offender groups or workers functioning outside the facility; schedules volunteer and related groups for visits to the facility.
• Assists offender groups in selecting community projects for an effective volunteer program; enlists the support of interested volunteer and professional groups and employers in making their programs or jobs available to offenders.
• Performs work in accordance with established rules and regulations; receives general and administrative direction; performs other related work as assigned.

Requirements

• Four or more years of correctional experience, or vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework, guidance and counseling, mental health, health, substance abuse, law enforcement, public or business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities.
• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year.

• Contingent upon position, eligibility for:
  • $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am at a 24/7 congregate care facility (e.g., institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
  • $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility.
• Guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.

Pay

The position offers a full-time annual salary that includes a $1.50 per hour maximum security differential ($3,120 annually). The Missouri Department of Corrections also provides a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
