Installation Technician

About the role

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an innovative leader to join Kastle Systems, the premier provider of property technology solutions. The Installation Technician is responsible for installing and assisting in all phases of installation, testing, and troubleshooting of security, access control, and video systems at customer sites in the Washington metropolitan area. You will interact directly with clients, client representatives, contractors, and Kastle personnel to ensure successful installations.

Responsibilities

• Install, supervise, and assist in all phases of installing, testing, and troubleshooting security, access control, and video systems at customer sites.
• Oversee all aspects of system installation to ensure quality, defect-free results that meet customer satisfaction and profitability standards.
• Communicate and coordinate with crew, customer contacts, project managers, locksmiths, and schedulers to ensure successful installation.
• Complete all required paperwork, including inventory transfers, hardware information, floor plans, and work order notes.
• Report the status of system installation accordingly.
• Perform system testing with test tools or EPL to ensure functionality meets Kastle standards.
• Demonstrate understanding of fire codes, including performing fire inspections.
• Assist the Project Manager with planning, scheduling, and coordinating installation activities to ensure accurate and timely completion of Kastle system install or change orders.
• Responsible for the behavior and performance of assigned team members.
• Train, evaluate, and coach technicians within your team.
• Manage inventory and stockroom of installation parts and equipment.
• Perform inventory control and maintain proper inventory for vehicles and projects, including end-of-year and interim inventory counts.
• Maintain and care for Kastle-provided vehicles and tools, including paperwork and maintenance records.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience installing access control, video systems, or other related electronic systems.
• Technical school certificate is a plus but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude and thorough knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Strong electronics knowledge/background (AC/DC theory, series and parallel circuits, open/close loops) and ability to use digital volt meters.
• Knowledge of Serial Communication (RS232, RS485).
• Basic knowledge of IP, Ethernet, and networking protocols, and Cat5 technologies.
• Preferred: Professional construction experience and knowledge of door hardware, electric and mechanical locking devices, and building codes pertaining to construction, fire, and electrical systems.
