Installation Lead

About the Role

Responsible for meeting customer needs through layout, wiring, and mounting of custom truck bodies on trucks. This includes setting up and operating machines to cut, bend, saw, and punch steel into custom parts, as well as completing mechanical work such as hydraulics and mounting PTOs and pumps.

You will lead and assist employees to meet production schedules while maintaining personal production responsibilities. Effective communication with employees, managers, and other areas is required for documentation, reports, and performance appraisals. Safety is a priority, including following safety and environmental requirements, housekeeping, PPE, and work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Layout, wiring, and mounting of custom truck bodies on trucks
• Set up and operate machines to cut, bend, saw, and punch steel into custom parts
• Complete mechanical work, including hydraulics and mounting PTOs and pumps
• Lead and assist employees to meet production schedules while maintaining personal production responsibilities
• Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and other departments (e.g., documentation, reports)
• Assist with employee performance appraisals and hold employees accountable for company expectations
• Prioritize safety, follow safety and environmental requirements, and assist with safety-related investigations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Leadership, flexibility, and interpersonal skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems, as well as train and mentor employees
• Basic math skills for accurate machine setup, measurement, and problem-solving
• Preferred experience operating a hand plasma and wire feed welding; ability to pass a weld test is preferred
• Preferred one to two years of experience in installation or related vehicle experience
• Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular heavy physical exertion (lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending)
• Ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs. using overhead hoists
• Ability to stand and work on concrete for several hours at a time
• Ability to work in various positions, including kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing
• Ability to read job specifications, blueprints, and measuring devices
• Basic computer data entry skills
• Basic understanding of hydraulics, PTO, frames, pumps, electrical controls, and wiring
• Ability to work in a team environment and participate in company meetings
• Ability to attain and maintain production efficiencies and quality standards
• Must work safely, following safety procedures and wearing required PPE
• Team player who collaborates with other departments to meet company goals
• Detail-oriented, energetic, and goal-driven
• Embrace lean tools and apply them for measurable results
• Desire to participate in and lead kaizen events in work cells

Environment

Heavy industrial atmosphere with exposure to grease, oil, heat, humidity, occasionally cramped quarters, and possibly wet conditions.

Pay

$25.00 to $29.00 per hour (non-exempt, hourly position; paid bi-weekly).

Schedule

Four (4) ten-hour days, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be available on the fifth day of the week and/or Saturdays.

Location

On-site at 52182 Ember Road, Lake Crystal, MN 56055. Minimal to no travel required.
