Inside Application Engineer
Job Summary
This position is an inside application / sales role responsible for identifying and qualifying new customers and new business opportunities based on sales potential and product suitability. Primary job functions include responding to inquiries for technical support, product sizing and selection assistance, application assistance and pricing for all FAULHABER products sold in North America. Works together as one team with Account Manager and Inside Sales Representative to support and manage opportunities, customers and prospective customers. Target customers include original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), contract manufacturers and contract design firms engaged in the design and manufacture of end products that include FAULHABER product. Our customers are innovation and technology leaders within the medical, laboratory automation, semiconductor, aerospace and defense markets.
Responsibilities
- Respond to all inquiries for pricing, technical support, sizing and selection assistance and application assistance for all FAULHABER products sold in North America.
- Identify and qualify new accounts and new business opportunities at customers.
- Develop new contacts and relationships within engineering teams of customer organizations.
- Accurately and thoroughly document and maintain all communications and activities with customers in CRM system.
- Respond to all requests for quotation and follow-up on all quotations submitted to OEM customers.
- Provide customers with prompt, courteous and competent service and support regardless of sales level, sales potential or communication channel (includes email, phone, internet, online chat, customer on-site visits and trade shows).
- Assist Account Managers in business development activities at customers and prospective customers within target markets.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of all FAULHABER products as well as competitor’s products.
- Support and coordinate all customer and opportunity related intercompany communication and activity with other FAULHABER teams and facilities as required (includes configuration / design control, design engineering, logistics / production planning, procurement, manufacturing and finance).
- Support Inside Sales Representatives, Account Managers and other personnel on technical issues and inquiries as required.
- Your Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, definition, clarification and analysis of customer requirements, product sizing and selection calculations, application specific modeling of product performance, technical proposals, quotations, presentations, product data sheets, specifications for product features and options, contractual review and approval of customer drawings and requirements documents, product change notifications, RMA application and root cause investigations, RMA reports and RMA corrective action reports.
- Provide prompt responses and follow-up on all customer inquiries, communication and activities.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Position requires at least 5 years’ work experience as Application Engineer or Sales Engineer with competitor in motion industry.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in the sale, application and / or design of coreless brush DC motors, brushless DC motors, stepper motors, linear motors, piezo motors, spur gearheads, planetary gearheads, actuation systems, encoders, PWM drives and motion controllers.
- Deep understanding of sales process for engineered solutions sold to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and what is required to obtain “design wins” and production awards.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical engineering content on customer drawings and requirements documents.
- Ability to develop a thorough understanding of all product specifications and sizing and selection equations.
- Engineering and / or design experience with challenging medical, aerospace or defense applications is desirable.
- Analytical mindset, enjoys challenge of understanding complex application requirements.
- Strong passion and interest for being an innovator of motion technology.
- Well organized, team oriented individual. Capable of proactively managing multiple concurrent customer deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
- Strong work ethic and flexible in terms of work schedule.
- Must reside within the Tampa Bay area.
- Ability to travel in North America and Europe up to 3–5 trips per year.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Other language skills are desirable but not required.
- Computer skills: advanced proficiency with CRM software, MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Proficiency with SAP and / or Mathcad is desirable but not required.
