About the role

Work one-on-one with a person with I/DD to help them reach their individualized goals and become as independent as possible. This can be done in either a private home or within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individual habitation plans focusing on daily living skills, socialization, employment, leisure, and recreational activities.
  • Document service provided in progress notes, including observations, consumer participation, and progress.
  • Obtain guardian’s signatures on documentation as required.
  • Supervise and assist with general housekeeping, meal preparation, grooming, bathing, eating, and other activities as applicable.
  • Provide transportation to community services/activities as needed.
  • Aid with money management and encourage decision-making.
  • Assist with prescribed exercises and maintain therapeutic/adaptive equipment.
  • Report changes in the person’s condition, needs, or circumstances to relevant personnel.
  • Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation, fraud, or drug diversion.
  • Perform other duties as required by circumstances.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions
  • No substantiated findings on the NC Health Care Abuse Registry
  • LME/MCO contract compliance
  • Valid driver’s license and 3 full years of driving experience
  • Acceptable automobile liability insurance
  • Experience with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred but not required
  • Willingness to complete all required trainings as assigned
  • Access to a device with internet connection during services

  • Knowledge of basic principles of I/DD
  • Ability to work with individuals who may be different from you
  • Empathy and understanding of consumer problems
  • Ability to determine consumer needs
  • Ability to engage and build rapport with the person served
  • Ability to adhere to company policy regarding supervision and transportation
  • Ability to document services accurately and timely

Benefits

Respite services available at $14.00/hr.

Pay

$14.00/hr - Respite (S5150)

Schedule

Service-ordered hours, with specific approval for exceptions.
