Internship Overview
IME tailors day-to-day projects to each intern’s career interests and goals, moving beyond corporate chores to meaningful work. As an electrical contractor, interns gain an insider’s view of the industry, build practical and professional skills, and contribute to projects that have a lasting impact on culture and company operations.
Role Overview
As an innovation intern, you will gain hands-on experience with modern tech workflows, data reporting, software automation, and field tech integration. The program is designed to let you explore areas of interest, such as testing internal apps, automating processes, building custom reporting dashboards, or collaborating with field teams using construction technologies. Your contributions will directly shape IME’s culture and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Build & Test Digital Solutions: Help design, test, and roll out mobile applications that streamline operations; assist with automating workflows to reduce manual tasks and improve productivity.
- Drive Data Insights & Systems Support: Create custom Power BI dashboards and manage basic SQL datasets; assist with IT support tickets and maintain field-level technologies like Procore and BIM systems.
- Explore What Interests You Most: Tailor project workload to your career goals, with opportunities to dive into app development, shadow data analysis, explore construction technology in the field, or focus on IT infrastructure.
- Additional duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Enthusiasm, ownership of real projects, problem-solving mindset, and a strong interest in technology and process improvement.
- Demonstrated Accomplishment: Strong communication skills to collaborate across teams and explain technical ideas clearly; a problem-solving focus on improving manual tasks with practical tech solutions.
- Experience: Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Procore, and the ability to quickly learn new tools and systems.
- Education & Experience: Currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program in Information Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Working Conditions
The majority of work is in a typical office environment, with occasional travel to construction job sites. On sites, you may encounter extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud, debris, welding, confined spaces, trenching, and shoring. Multiple site visits may occur in a single day.
Salary Range
$20.00 – $25.00/hour. Final salary is based on education, experience, relevant skills, and internal equity.
