Injection/Plastic Molding Technician

Responsibilities

• Set up injection molding machines, perform mold changeovers, and ensure proper installation and alignment of molds and materials.
• Adjust and program machine process parameters, including temperature, pressure, cycle speed, and clamp force, to maintain optimal production performance.
• Diagnose and resolve molding defects such as short shots, flash, sink marks, and cosmetic imperfections.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on molds and auxiliary equipment, including dryers, material loaders, and robotic systems.
• Monitor ongoing production to ensure parts meet quality specifications and halt operations when quality issues arise.
• Maintain accurate production records, SPC charts, and ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and OSHA standards where applicable.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to support continuous process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Precision Machining Technology (or equivalent technical program) preferred.
• Must have 3+ years of experience as an Injection/Plastic Molding Technician.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and use precision measuring instruments.
• Working knowledge of plastic resins, including drying, blending, handling, and contamination control.
• Basic computer literacy with strong communication skills and keen attention to detail.
• Familiarity with hot runner systems, robotics, and auxiliary molding equipment.
