Initiatives and Training Grant Manager (Temporary)

About the role

The UW Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) has an outstanding opportunity for an Initiatives and Training Grant Manager (Temporary) to manage department chair initiatives and serve as the Biostatistics, Epidemiologic and Bioinformatic Training and Environmental Health (BEBTEH) Training Grant Manager. Reporting to DEOHS Chair, the Manager will partner with the department Chair to facilitate initiatives and manage a federal graduate student training grant.

Responsibilities

The position will be divided into two main areas: Federal Training Grant Management (60%) and Department Initiatives (40%).

Federal Training Grant Management duties include:

• Recruitment: Partner with the training grant PI, faculty, and colleagues in other participating units to recruit up to 10 graduate students and 5 post-doctoral fellows assigned to the grant for 1+ years.
• Position Management: Track appointments and maintain accurate reporting in the federal and UW systems.
• Grant Management: Conduct all grant management associated with the training grant, including progress reports, metrics, narratives, interacting with UW grant pre- and post-units.
• Grant Deliverable Management: Manage compliance with training grant deliverables, tracking and implementing requirements.

Department Initiatives duties include:

• Department and topical policy, procedure, and compliance updates and documentation.
• Department and School Level Initiatives: Work closely with the Chair, faculty, and staff leadership to conduct School initiatives delegated to the Chair.
• Retreats and Special Events: The Manager will be part of a department staff team implementing Chair and faculty leadership initiated retreats, focus groups, and other events initiated by the Chair.

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, your application must demonstrate you meet the minimum qualifications listed below.

• Bachelor of Science Degree and three years of project management experience to include 2 years of managing federal T32 grants and performing external funding pre and post award management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience managing post-award activities in an academic or healthcare research environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance), UW policies, and sponsor requirements.
• Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and reconciliation skills.
• Experience with Workday Finance, UW SAGE, Award Portal, eRA Commons, and ASSIST or similar enterprise financial systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Pay and Schedule

The salary range for this position is $70,008.00 - $85,008.00 annual, prorated for a 50% FTE opportunity. This position will be benefits eligible and has the potential to increase to 70% FTE.
