About the Role

Arconic is seeking an Ingot Area Manager for our Tennessee Operations Ingot facility in Alcoa, TN. This position oversees the 24/7 operation of the Ingot casting facility, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, maintenance, and cost efficiency while meeting on-time delivery goals for ingots to the Tennessee Hotmill facility. The role involves supervising production coordinators, supervisors, and hourly production staff.

Responsibilities

  • Align with the Lead Area Manager to execute production and financial goals.
  • Support strategic business improvements focused on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Manage and accelerate change in processes, products, and resources.
  • Act as SMART Manufacturing SPA to drive technology and meet business objectives.
  • Lead lean continuous improvement initiatives and sustainable systems for casting operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for casting-related reliability issues (e.g., mold failures, thermal fatigue, casting defects).
  • Monitor and analyze process data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for reliability improvement.
  • Collaborate with process engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure robust casting operations.
  • Support capital projects and equipment upgrades with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
  • Coach and develop direct and indirect reports.
  • Partner with Human Resources to establish and monitor department-specific people systems (performance management, recognition, compensation, employee engagement, development, succession planning, hiring, and onboarding).
  • Develop and maintain effective communication systems across departments, shifts, and crews.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
  • Review PFMEAs for processes and equipment to mitigate risks related to safety, quality, and equipment reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or Bachelor's Degree in progress (successful candidate must pursue completion).
  • Strong understanding of aluminum casting processes.
  • Minimum of 4 years supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business, or Engineering.
  • 7+ years of management experience within the aluminum, steel, or metals industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement/lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Tennessee Operations is located 3 hours north of Atlanta, GA; 2.5 hours east of Nashville, TN; and 4 hours west of Charlotte, NC. Recognized as a global leader, the plant has thrived at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for over 100 years.
