Responsibilities
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
- Collect and document patient data including vital signs and medication updates.
- Aid physicians and clinical staff with exams, procedures, and treatments.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
- Cook up and clean exam rooms and maintain inventory.
- Provide patient communication, scheduling support, and documentation assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- One to three years of Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
- A degree from an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- An NCMA certification is preferred.
- A current BCLS certification is required within 3 months of hire.
Physical Demands
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Work Environment
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment may occur.
