Float-Medical Assistant

About the role

The Medical Assistant supports the Specialties and Same Day Care/Urgent Care practice with overall responsibility for maintaining efficiency of patient flow. They provide support during procedures, answer practice education inquiries, and perform various screenings.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and escorts them into exam rooms.
• Assists with procedures, including minor and complex ones, under supervision.
• Takes vital signs and documents them.
• Answers phones, schedules appointments, processes orders, and prepares patient charts.
• Coordinates room rotations and assists with receiving results.
• Cleans instruments and maintains sterilizer competencies.
• Maintains excellent customer service and communicates critical patient information.
• Ensures appropriate communication with staff and patients regarding schedule changes.
• Cross-trains to assist in covering the front desk team.
• Performs administrative tasks such as patient check-in/out, answering emails, and assisting in uploading photographs.
• Trains new employees and participates in staff meetings.
• Attends flu clinics and demonstrates safety awareness.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• CMA certification preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Strong clinical judgment and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical procedures and anatomy.
• Ability to react calmly in emergencies and comply with safety protocols.
• Computer proficiency and ability to use electronic medical records.

Qualifications

• Works Monday-Friday, 1 weekend a month, and 1 holiday/year.

Schedule

Day shift, every other weekend, and 1 holiday/year
