About the Role
This position works in the Server Management Branch, focusing on information technology (IT) infrastructure such as web services, database connectivity, email systems, storage systems, and backup/restore functions. The role supports the setup and maintenance of servers, storage systems, backup systems, and email systems, with a statewide impact. The work involves collaboration with Judiciary staff, ITSD staff, Circuit IT staff, Executive Branch IT staff, vendors, and Judiciary clients.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, specify, design, build, implement, and support IT systems with statewide impact.
- Add, upgrade, troubleshoot, and support servers (virtual and stand-alone), centralized storage systems, backup systems, peripherals, and associated software.
- Provide technical guidance on Windows Servers with Active Directory and address statewide IT issues.
- Perform analysis, design, planning, documentation, implementation, and other support duties.
- Assist in other project areas as needed.
Requirements
Education
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Excess professional experience of comparable scope, level, and quality may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (4 years of experience for a degree).
The education or experience must demonstrate the ability to:
- Write clear and comprehensive reports and documents.
- Read and interpret complex written material.
- Solve complex problems logically and systematically.
Specialized Experience
- Three and one-half (3-½) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience in systems analysis, design, programming, security, database management, consulting, or maintaining software, hardware, telecommunications, web, or network infrastructure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT principles, methods, techniques, hardware, software, and operating systems (personal computer, server, mini, or mainframe).
Qualifications
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with enterprise hardware systems (e.g., IBM Power Systems, Lenovo Systems, Cisco Systems) and associated operating systems (AIX, Linux, Windows Server).
- Experience with virtualization software (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Ability to stay current with new IT trends, processes, and systems.
- Knowledge and experience with backup/restore systems.
- Knowledge of email systems.
- Experience with Microsoft’s M365 Suite (e.g., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and relationship-building.
Supervisory Aptitude
At this level, supervisory aptitude (rather than direct experience) may be accepted. This includes:
- Successful completion of assignments with supervisory aspects.
- Serving as a group or team leader.
- Completion of supervisory training courses with applied skills.
- Favorable appraisals indicating supervisory potential.
Substitutions Allowed
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field may substitute for 6 months of specialized experience.
- Partial completion of a master’s degree in computer science may substitute up to 1 year of experience (month-for-month).
- A master’s degree in computer science may substitute for 1.5 years of experience.
- A Ph.D. in computer science may substitute for 2.5 years of experience.
Pay
$6,221 to $6,998 per month (SR-24, Step D to G).
