About the role

The U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Pennsylvania, located in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks an Information Technology Specialist to provide support in areas such as customer support, IT systems/network administration, information systems security, internet, and litigation support.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, and upgrades commonly used hardware and software systems.
  • Solves recurring software/hardware problems.
  • Provides user training on routine hardware, software, and internet applications.
  • Aids customers and clients in identifying and describing IT requirements for business and legal applications.
  • Maintains and controls equipment inventories.
  • Explains web page requirements to content developers.
  • Maintains IT systems security documentation.
  • Uses established procedures to manipulate and present data in various formats for use in litigation.

Requirements

  • Under the updated Competency-Based Qualification Standard for the IT Management Series (2210), applicants must meet or exceed all required competencies at the minimum proficiency level for the GS-09 as described below.
  • Specialized experience: Installs, configures, and maintains enterprise software, operating systems, and network-connected IT hardware in accordance with agency configuration and cybersecurity standards; Supports multimedia and collaboration technologies by configuring and troubleshooting AV systems, video conferencing platforms, digital displays, and meeting room IT equipment; Applies IT quality assurance and security practices by validating system updates, checking patch and access control compliance, performing basic vulnerability checks, and documenting required remediation; and/or Diagnoses and resolves user reported software, hardware, and network issues through structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis, using IT Service Management (ITSM) tools to track, escalate, and restore services.
