Information Technology Manager
IT Managers oversee day-to-day IT operations, manage projects, align technology initiatives with business goals, and ensure optimal performance of IT systems and services. They supervise staff, manage resources and budgets, and drive continuous improvement across infrastructure, applications, or support services. This role (IT Manager I) leads a small team of individual contributors with common skillsets and similar objectives.
Responsibilities
- Functional Strategy Formation: Collaborate with business partners, senior IT leaders, and team members to contribute specialized expertise in developing functional strategy. Ensure technology initiatives align with current and future business needs, leverage emerging technologies and industry best practices, and are grounded in team capabilities for practical, achievable execution.
- Business Planning: Contribute to annual and long-term business plans and technical roadmaps. Forecast performance against business objectives, develop business cases for key projects, perform budget planning, and estimate financial and personnel resources required to meet targets.
- End-to-End Solutions: Manage the delivery of scalable, secure, and business-aligned technology solutions—from design and implementation to maintenance and support. Ensure solutions reflect current industry standards and evolving best practices.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, coach, and develop a small team of IT professionals (e.g., infrastructure, application support, or help desk). Delegate actions to implement functional strategy, communicate organizational mission alignment, and motivate the team to achieve business goals and deliver sustainable solutions.
- Business Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners to understand evolving needs, deliver high-quality solutions, and drive continuous improvement. Participate in steering committees to ensure strategic alignment and support IT Leadership’s Business Relationship Management discipline.
- Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships to ensure service delivery, contract adherence, and alignment with business needs.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with external regulations, internal policies, and IT governance standards (e.g., data protection, cybersecurity, audit requirements) through appropriate controls, processes, and monitoring.
- Value Optimization: Maintain an enterprise capability catalog to enable reuse, standardization, and reduce duplicate solutions.
- Portfolio Management: Shape and prioritize the technology portfolio by aligning business demand, strategic objectives, capacity, and value.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or H.S. Diploma with equivalent experience.
- 8–10 years of progressive technical experience.
- 3–5 years of IT management experience with direct reports.
- People Leadership: Ability to motivate, develop, and manage high-performing teams; foster an inclusive culture; and handle performance management, delegation, coaching, and team development.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the managed technical area, serving as a team resource.
- Business Requirements Analysis: Advanced ability to translate business/user needs into requirements, assess team capabilities, and recommend solutions.
- Project Management: Experience managing small-to-medium IT projects from initiation to delivery, including scope, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
- Planning and Organizing: Advanced skills in prioritizing work, problem-solving, capacity planning, resource allocation, and cross-team dependency management.
- Adaptive Mindset: Ability to assess situations and adjust thinking/work habits innovatively. Experience or certification in process optimization frameworks (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Human-Centered Design) is preferred.
- 15% international and domestic travel.
Schedule
- Hybrid role: Remote work 2 days per week (Wednesdays and Fridays) after 90 days.
- Office location: Camden, NJ (Greater Philadelphia area).
Pay
The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000–$160,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training. This role is bonus-eligible, with a target bonus percentage based on performance.
