Information Systems Watch Technician
Amentum is seeking an Information Systems Watch Technician to join our team in the Arlington, VA area. In this role, you will maintain and support telecommunications systems to ensure they are fully functional and available for senior leader’s decision support teams.
About the role
This position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years or designated CE, and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.
Schedule
Work is performed on a 12-hour rotational shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7/365 operations. You will work seven 12-hour shifts over a two-week period, with a schedule created 30-60 days in advance. Travel may be required (up to 5%).
Responsibilities
- Ensure availability, performance, and testing of operational mission capabilities, including IT and RF-based voice, video, data systems, networks, services, and information feeds.
- Operate, maintain, test, analyze, troubleshoot, and restore communications systems and services.
- Coordinate with third-party service providers for availability, performance, or restoration efforts.
- Determine appropriate operational courses of action and implement solutions under varying conditions; brief customers on operational status.
- Set up, operate, and train users on voice, video, and data networks, including radio systems, satellite systems, and network architecture.
- Make tactical decisions in stressed environments to meet mission objectives.
- Manage dynamic taskings and prioritize workload to meet customer expectations under changing conditions.
- Identify and recommend process improvements and innovative approaches to enhance service delivery.
- Support the design, planning, and testing of new systems to meet customer needs; ensure proper installation and onboarding.
- Maintain proper configuration and change management control, ensuring system documentation is current.
Requirements
- Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years or designated CE, with the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.
- Three to five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting circuits and equipment.
- Experience making, running, testing cables, performing loopbacks, and installing equipment.
- Experience using VTC equipment.
- CompTIA IT Security+ Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four years of college in a related technical discipline plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience as a Network and/or Systems Administrator.
- Experience at an IT Help Desk or Customer Service Center.
- Operational work experience in a military communications career field.
- Understanding of mid-range computer hardware and software features.
- Training experience, including explaining setup and troubleshooting processes.
Work Environment
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
- Extended periods of sitting at a computer workstation.
- Work under desks, raised floors, and climb ladders for repairs and cable management.
Pay
$110,000 - $130,000 per year.
