For nearly 85 years, we’ve designed, built, and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. As the largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, we’re simultaneously building four classes of ships and have pioneered the development and production of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface navy fleet for decades.

We are seeking a capable and detail‑oriented IT Project Manager 3 to support and lead medium‑to‑large technology initiatives. In this role, you will help plan, track, and deliver cross‑functional projects by working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and managed service providers. You will assist with defining project scope, creating project schedules, monitoring progress, managing risks, and ensuring communication flows effectively across technical and non‑technical audiences. This position plays a key role in supporting project execution, maintaining alignment with PMO standards, and contributing to predictable delivery outcomes. The ideal candidate has experience coordinating IT projects, communicating clearly with diverse stakeholders, and applying project management best practices aligned with PMI guidelines. This role focuses on disciplined project management and execution to ensure projects meet intended business objectives, bridging the gap between technical implementation and business impact to ensure projects are aligned with strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Apply established project management best practices and methodologies aligned with PMI standards.
• Conduct structured planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ensure adherence to PMO governance.
• Define project scope, create and maintain project schedules, and monitor progress.
• Manage risks and issues across cross‑functional teams.
• Facilitate effective communication between technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and managed service providers.
• Support budget tracking and financial awareness for project initiatives.

Requirements

• High School diploma and 9 years of experience
• Associates degree and 7 years of experience
• Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience
• Masters degree or above and 3 years of experience
• PhD and 0 years of experience

Qualifications

• PMP or CAPM certification
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects within complex organizational structures involving outsourced partners and managed service providers
• Strong technical background
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non‑technical and management audiences
• Basic financial awareness, including experience supporting budget tracking
• Experience in shipbuilding or other manufacturing industry (highly desirable)
• Experience with Microsoft Planner Premium
• AI literacy: demonstrable experience with AI‑powered project management tools for scheduling, resource planning, or risk insights
