Information Security Analyst - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Information Security Analyst - Hybrid for a contract position with a Public Sector Organization located in Minneapolis, MN. Compensation: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications Position Overview: This role is focused on supporting the Information Security Operations team as a first responder to security events across the organization. The position involves two main functions: monitoring, triaging, and investigating alerts from security tools, and resolving security requests from employees. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of hands-on security or IT experience and will work closely with IT staff, escalating complex incidents to senior security personnel as needed. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for monitoring alerts and ticket queues related to cybersecurity and information securityTriage escalations from the third party security operations center, collect relevant data, and determine false positives or facilitate hand-off to higher tier analystsParticipate in improving security policies or technical controlsAssist in incident response activities as needed Primary Requirements: 2-4+ years of experience in information security, a security operations center (SOC), or a closely related IT role with regular security dutiesHands-on experience triaging alerts in a SIEM or incidents in an ITSM (ticketing) systemWorking knowledge of web filtering including how to review and categorize URLs and process requests to unblock themUnderstanding of networking basics: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, proxies, firewalls and VPNsAbility to investigate phishing emails, including analyzing headers, checking URLs and attachments, and taking remediation stepsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining security decisions to non-technical users politely and clearlyAbility to prioritize and manage multiple open alerts and requests at the same timeMust be able to work onsite 4 days a week Desired Skills: Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GIAC (GSEC, GCIH, GCIA), or Microsoft SC-200Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK frameworkScripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python) and exposure to SOAR platformsExperience with email security gateways (e.g., Proofpoint)Exposure to cloud security in Azure, AWS or Microsoft 365Knowledge of vulnerability management tools (e.g., Tenable)Experience in a regulated or public-sector environment, or familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls or ISO 27001A bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science or a related field (equivalent experience considered) Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
