Informatics Specialist
About the Role
Provides expertise and support in the development and optimization of the electronic health record (EHR) related to efficient usage, quality initiatives, and government and reimbursement regulations. Acts as an integral member of large system initiatives and teams addressing quality initiatives and balanced scorecard metrics.
Works closely with the executive Project Management Office (PMO), Epic Application Teams, Quality & Safety Organization, clinical integration department, and other stakeholders to facilitate process improvement that addresses clinical workflow, improved documentation, and compliance.
Highly involved from project inception through rollout, including assisting with training and education. Serves as a subject matter expert in managing assigned projects and supports the office of the CHIO to further clinical and system priorities, acting as a project liaison between IS and operations.
Supports Core Measures to ensure Piedmont Healthcare is meeting regulatory and governmental requirements for reporting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize the EHR for efficient usage, quality initiatives, and compliance with government and reimbursement regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the PMO, Epic Application Teams, Quality & Safety Organization, and clinical integration department.
- Facilitate process improvements to enhance clinical workflow, documentation, and compliance.
- Participate in all project phases, from inception to rollout, including training and education.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned projects.
- Act as a liaison between IS and operations to support clinical and system priorities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and governmental reporting requirements for Core Measures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Clinical Healthcare, Computer Technology or Science, or a closely related field.
- 3 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in Informatics, Application build and support, or a closely related field.
- Registered Nurse with current Georgia licensure, or licensed/registered professional in a clinical healthcare area.
- EPIC Certification: Appropriate Epic certification must be successfully obtained for the specific area of assigned responsibility within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management experience.
