About the role
The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring infection prevention and control programs. This includes surveillance, consultation, and education regarding prevention and control activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform surveillance, consultation, and education regarding prevention and control activities under the direction of the infection prevention director or manager and the physician epidemiologist.
- Serve as an internal consultant in data collection, analysis, reporting, and team facilitation.
- Implement and monitor infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with employee occupational health in developing strategies to address disease transmission risks.
- Serve in emergency preparedness and response activities related to infection prevention and control.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of infection prevention and control programs.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to promote positive patient and employee outcomes.
- Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.
Requirements
- RN: 1-year infection control and 3 years clinical nursing experience required.
- Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure.
- If compact, license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Active participation in facility clinical improvement activities.
- If not an RN, must have a minimum of 2 years acute care hospital and Infection Control experience.
