Infection Prevention Coordinator

About the role

The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring infection prevention and control programs. This includes surveillance, consultation, and education regarding prevention and control activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform surveillance, consultation, and education regarding prevention and control activities under the direction of the infection prevention director or manager and the physician epidemiologist.
• Serve as an internal consultant in data collection, analysis, reporting, and team facilitation.
• Implement and monitor infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with employee occupational health in developing strategies to address disease transmission risks.
• Serve in emergency preparedness and response activities related to infection prevention and control.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of infection prevention and control programs.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives to promote positive patient and employee outcomes.
• Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.

Requirements

• RN: 1-year infection control and 3 years clinical nursing experience required.
• Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure.
• If compact, license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
• Active participation in facility clinical improvement activities.
• If not an RN, must have a minimum of 2 years acute care hospital and Infection Control experience.
