Responsibilities
- Establish and implement infection control orientation programs.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to infection control.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of annual PPE training.
- Develop and lead training sessions on infection control and protective equipment.
- Use epidemiological principles and statistical methods to design, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control strategies.
- Conduct OSHA risk assessments at least annually and as needed, considering served populations, regional vulnerabilities, relevant statistical data, and new and emerging infectious diseases with the Employee Health Provider.
- Notify the County and/or State Health Department of any reportable diseases, adhering to all internal county and state procedures.
- Develop and implement continuously improved patient care procedures and control mechanisms relating to quality, compliance, and infectious diseases.
- Participate in infection prevention and control education of all employees during orientation and annually.
- Ensure infection prevention and control procedures meet CMS, county and state, and CDC regulations.
- Organize Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings and maintain all meeting minutes.
- Complete infection prevention surveillance activities for the facility.
- Assist with annual reviews of quality performance.
- Report data as required by CMS and NHSN guidelines.
- Conduct surveillance of McPherson Center for Health patients.
- Lead and coordinate Infection Control QAPI activities for McPherson Center for Health.
- Lead and coordinate Infection Control Committee meetings.
- Participate in McPherson Center for Health committees (e.g., Antimicrobial Stewardship, QAPI, Safety).
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare, preferred experience as an infection control nurse
