Industrial Plumbing Steamfitter
About the role
The Industrial Plumbing Steamfitter will support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of system-controlled robotics, steam systems, machine tools, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate the condition of hydraulic, steam, and HVAC equipment and determine strategies to repair and rebuild.
- Own preventative maintenance, inspections, and extensive repairs; diagnose problems, plan, and complete work required, identify and order parts.
- Install and repair pipes, fixtures, and valves for water, gas, steam, and air systems.
- Install supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
- Assemble fittings and valves for installation.
- Modify lengths of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.
- Use saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
- Install heating and air conditioning systems, including water heaters.
- Collaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
- Analyse problems and identify appropriate tools and materials for repair.
- Document problems and summary of actions taken using a CMMS.
Requirements
- At least one of the following:
- AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities Technology
- AOS degree in HVAC or Construction & Maintenance
- Military Training Course in related field
- 3 years work experience in a Manufacturing Facility (with references)
- 3 years proven experience in Commercial HVAC service and installation
- Completion of 2 years of a Plumber/Steamfitter Apprentice Program (considered 3rd year apprentice)
- Journeyman Steamfitter
- Licensed NYS Plumber
- Ability and willingness to work off shifts and weekends
- Ability and willingness to work 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM)
Desired Characteristics
- Minimum 3 years work experience in Manufacturing Facility in a technical maintenance role
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic fundamental and safety knowledge (schematics, precision measurement tools, LOTO)
Pay
The base pay range for this position is $35.68/hr - $43.89/hr. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for contractually negotiated general wage increases and COLA increases. This position is eligible for a $1.00 per hour Night Shift Bonus.
