Entry Level - Industrial Plumber/Steamfitter
Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under general supervision, the Industrial Plumber/Steamfitter will layout, design, install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, test, and repair pipes and fittings of mechanical utility piping systems, chillers that include hot water, chilled water, steam, compressed air, sewer, chemicals, fuel oil, gasses, and other related systems following local and state codes. They will read and understand system prints and schematics.
- Move and work in confined spaces, up and down ladders, and work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lift platforms.
- Install supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
- Assemble fittings and valves for installation.
- Modify length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.
- Use saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
- Install heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
- Collaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
- Perform inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
- Analyse problem and identify appropriate tools and materials for repair.
- Follow health and safety standards and comply with building codes.
- Operate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Order materials and parts for job execution.
- Use current CMMS work order system to process and complete job assignments.
- Access Building Management System to review HVAC systems and make changes if needed.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- A High School Diploma/GED
- One year basic plumbing work experience
- A Valid Driver's License
Desired Requirements
- Two years commercial plumbing work experience
- A Plumbing training certificate from BOCES Votec or equivalent
Pay
The base pay rate is $28.01/hr and will increase on progression ($35.68/hr - $43.89/hr) upon completion of training. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for contractually negotiated general wage increases, COLA increases, and a $1/hr night shift bonus.
