INDUSTRIAL MECHANICAL INSPECTOR (SHIPS) SUPV I.

Responsibilities

• Assure that personnel are sufficiently trained in the processes and requirements of non-nuclear quality control to certify that program, specifications, and requirements are adhered to.
• Responsible for the overall quality of production work, personnel safety, and efficiency of the subordinate members of the working unit.
• Responsible for the quality and quantity of the inspection work performed by subordinate nonsupervisory inspectors.
• Explain technical subjects and be familiar with mechanical, structural, and hydraulic-mechanical systems and assemblies associated with naval nuclear vessels.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals). Participation in medical surveillance programs is required.
• May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites. Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. Required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
