Job Summary
About the role
Work under the direction of a Journeyperson or Foreman. Individuals will gain a high level of skill in the industrial maintenance/turnaround/construction/or mechanical environment and apprenticeship.
Job Functions

- The ability to learn how to assemble and disassemble refinery equipment.
- Perform duties within a precise limit or standard of accuracy (Quality Control).
- Gain the knowledge to work from drawings and blueprints.
- Able to learn how to run several types of equipment (forklifts, manlifts, etc.).
- Must be able to perform Turnaround duties when required.
- Ability to learn how to select the proper tools and equipment to complete a job.
- Work well with supervision.
- Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
- Will be required to attend apprenticeship classes for the duration of the apprenticeship.
Qualifications
- Zero (0) to four (4) years in refinery maintenance experience.
- Apprentices will participate in the apprenticeship program for up to four (4) years.
- Continually gain understanding of refinery maintenance type work and knowledge of basic hand tools.
- A steady hand and good hand-eye coordination are necessary for working with small parts.
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and procedures is crucial.
- The ability to communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and other departments about issues and solutions is important.
- Complete the Company’s Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client/Site specific training.
- MUST obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program.
- MUST pass background check.
- MUST have TWIC card.
- MUST have a 20-hour high hazard facility training card.
- MUST produce a High School diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Employee will be standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
- Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively.
- May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols.
- Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of time, up to 12 hours a day.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
