Industrial IoT Solution Architect
About the role
A company dedicated to innovation in construction, engineering, manufacturing, and renewable energy seeks an Industrial IoT Solution Architect to lead the digital transformation of its industrial operations. This role requires a deep understanding of system architecture, particularly in the realm of Industrial IoT (IIoT) and Industry 4.0 solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect end-to-end IIoT solutions, connecting industrial assets to edge and cloud-based data processing environments.
- Lead the integration of OT (Operational Technology) networks with IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability.
- Select appropriate sensors, gateways, edge devices, and cloud services to support specific business use cases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including software engineers, hardware engineers, and plant leadership—to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Develop and implement robust data ingestion, processing, and storage pipelines for telemetry and machine data.
- Ensure IIoT architectures align with industry standards and cybersecurity best practices.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including system designs, network diagrams, and configurations.
- Apply expertise in edge computing platforms, industrial protocols (e.g., MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus, TCP/IP), and Unified Namespace (UNS) frameworks to drive scalable solutions.
- Leverage cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and IoT-specific services to enable secure, scalable, and high-performing industrial systems.
- Support OT/IT convergence by incorporating knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial control environments into solution design.
- Embed cybersecurity best practices into all IIoT and connected device architectures to protect industrial networks and data.
- Utilize strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, Java) to support development, integration, and automation as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in system architecture, with at least 3 years specifically focused on Industrial IoT (IIoT) or Industry 4.0 solutions.
