Key Responsibilities
- Support the unique needs of our client as an Industrial IoT / Sensor Integration Engineer
- Install and commission aftermarket and OEM sensors on existing shipyard and manufacturing equipment
- Aid in determining appropriate sensor placement and mounting methods for telemetry collection
- Perform retrofits of legacy equipment to support instrumentation and monitoring
- Run, terminate, and test field wiring for sensors and instrumentation
- Interpret and update wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation documentation
- Connect sensors to local edge/gateway devices or industrial controllers
- Configure basic communication settings for data transmission to upstream platforms
- Support troubleshooting of device-to-gateway and gateway-to-network connectivity
- Validate sensor performance and telemetry accuracy after installation
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving faulty sensors, wiring, power, signal quality, or connectivity
- Work with equipment operators and maintenance personnel during commissioning and troubleshooting
- Document installations, wiring paths, sensor mappings, and configuration settings
- Cook up with engineering, maintenance, IT, and operations teams to schedule installations and minimize operational disruption
Required For This Opportunity
- Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline
- Five (5) years of experience installing, wiring, and commissioning industrial or aftermarket sensors on mechanical or electrical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings
- Familiarity with industrial signal types and interfaces including 4–20mA, 0–10V, digital I/O, and serial communications
- Experience troubleshooting sensor, cabling, and instrumentation issues in industrial environments
- Basic understanding of industrial networking and connectivity including Ethernet, serial communications, and field protocols
- Ability to work safely in active industrial/shipyard/manufacturing environments
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and comfort working directly with equipment in the field
Nice To Have Skills
- Experience with industrial gateways, edge devices, or telemetry collection hardware
- Familiarity with PLCs, industrial controllers, or SCADA-connected equipment
- Experience in shipyard, maritime, manufacturing, defense, or heavy industrial environments
- Exposure to industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC-UA, or MQTT
- Experience supporting predictive maintenance, equipment monitoring, or industrial telemetry initiatives
Pay
The targeted base salary range for this role is $102,000-$154,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
