About the role
SHD Composites is a leading manufacturer of advanced composite materials serving the aerospace, defense, automotive, marine, and industrial markets. We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to support the maintenance, repair, installation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and facility electrical systems. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring maximum equipment uptime, supporting production operations, troubleshooting electrical and control system issues, and assisting with facility expansion and improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Electrical Maintenance: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, machinery, and production equipment; diagnose electrical, control, and automation issues using electrical drawings, schematics, and testing equipment; perform preventative and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment; install, maintain, and repair motors, drives, control panels, transformers, and electrical distribution systems; maintain lighting, power distribution, and facility electrical infrastructure.
- Automation & Controls: Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing systems; support modifications and upgrades to electrical control systems; assist with equipment commissioning and startup activities; work with engineering and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company safety standards; follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety protocols; maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation; participate in safety audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facility Support: Assist with facility expansion projects, equipment relocations, and utility installations; coordinate with outside contractors and service providers as needed; support emergency maintenance response during equipment breakdowns.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or GED; minimum 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience; strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and troubleshooting techniques; ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings; working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and Lockout/Tagout procedures; ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent training; experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar); experience in manufacturing, aerospace, composites, chemical processing, or industrial environments; knowledge of VFDs, automation systems, and control circuits; forklift and aerial lift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and around manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
