Industrial Electrical Technician

About the role

This position performs electrical preventative maintenance and repairs on all equipment. It involves collaborating with maintenance supervisors and peers to understand electrical maintenance procedures and processes. The role also includes ensuring all equipment safeguards are installed and providing customer service by troubleshooting electrical issues.

Responsibilities

• Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly-installed machines and equipment.
• Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
• Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss malfunction with other maintenance technicians to diagnose malfunction.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
• Replace electric motor bearings.
• Push buttons and press keys on robot controller, teach pendant, and programmable controller to program automated machinery to operate, test for malfunctions, and verify repairs.
• Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
• Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
• Perform functions of Maintenance Mechanic III when no electrical work is needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, with knowledge and experience in electrical automation.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills.
