Industrial Controls System Admin
Purpose of the Position
Design plant's electrical projects, maintain, develop, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in a dynamic environment.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Manages electrical systems.
- Troubleshoots and maintains facilities control panels in regards to power distribution including motor control, motors, overload projection, etc.
- Conducts PLC programming and networking including braiding of the control panel, lateral logics, etc.
- Responsible for line and conveyor speed set up.
- Follows National Electrical Code (NEC) while installing and troubleshooting equipment.
- Deciphers blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Engineers Industrial Control Systems ensuring they meet safety standards.
- Designs and assembles PLCs and operator interface programming for control panels.
- Maintains facility’s electrical design and configuration control.
- Prepares conceptual and detailed designs and analysis for digital systems.
- Involves in electrical project management.
- Involves in reviewing of capital project plans from start to end.
- Provides feedback concerning execution of work and potential problems including acquisition of materials, equipment, and manpower, as well as the coordination with production schedules.
- Prepares cost estimates as needed.
- Sets up work requisitions for all required components and monitors arrival.
- Ensures components meet all quality and safety standards specified on the project.
- Assists in activity coordination of the maintenance and production teams to meet project’s deadlines.
- Recommends measures to increase performance.
- Understands and actively compares industrial process measurements and controls selecting the most fitting measurements to reduce waste and increase equipment performance.
- Provides technical expertise and consultation to identify and resolve equipment and systems issues.
- Attends meetings as required and relies on information to non-attending personnel as needed.
- Communicates and trains personnel in industrial processes and measurements.
- Conducts training for controls and electrical related systems for maintenance and operations personnel.
- Provides technical support for turnaround and shutdown activities.
- Participates as a member of the Team.
- Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
- Attends appropriate team meetings.
- As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
- Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating Systems Principles and Objectives
Familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understanding the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Technical Experience
- 3 years in PLC and TLC networking experience.
- Proven knowledge and proficiency in networking, IEEE, ISO, ISA, ANSI, IEC, and NEC standards.
Industry Experience
Preference for poultry or pet food processing organization.
Minimum Education
Vocational or Technical school in electrical systems or related field.
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
