Individual Support Workers Needed

About the role

Join Owen Health Care Inc. as a Part-Time Individual Support Worker and be part of a team that positively impacts the lives of children and adolescents. You will have the opportunity to utilize your experience in working with youth who have intellectual and developmental disabilities while developing strong relationships with their families and collaborating professionals. Our Individual Support Workers travel to the homes of our children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Assist behavioral therapists to create effective behavioral therapy programs tailored to children and adolescents
• Implement individualized service plans
• Provide behavioral interventions in home and community settings
• Actively manage youth with behavioral challenges
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment by developing and initiating safety standards while instructing youth on positive behavioral practices
• Monitor and document observations of youth behavior, allowing for necessary modifications to daily activities that align with therapeutic goals
• Develop and implement engaging recreational activities that support the emotional and social growth of the youth you care for
• Ensure youth have a clean and secure environment to thrive in

Requirements

• College degree with one year of experience, OR
• High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of three years of supervised experience in implementing positive behavior support plans and teaching ADL/Instrumental skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for building relationships with both the children and their families
• Ability to work independently while following established protocols and guidelines for successful implementation of behavioral therapy programs
• Demonstrate empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents in a supportive and nurturing manner
• Prior experience in behavioral interventions is highly valued
• Commitment to ongoing professional development is highly valued
