About the role

Leads and directs the work of other deicing personnel, providing instruction, support, and training to employees. Leads the team in applying de-icing fluid to commercial aircraft, performing quality control checks, and reporting on de-icing fluid transactions. Operates large specialized commercial vehicles and requires a valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of deicing services.
  • Assist with scheduling employees.
  • Check aircraft for leading edge ice and frost.
  • Apply deice fluid type 1 and 4 to aircraft wings, fuselage, and tail.
  • Drive large heavy vehicles around aircraft during deicing operations.
  • Accurately account for deicing fluid transactions.
  • Perform daily quality control checks on equipment and vehicles.
  • Operate headset/radio to communicate between ground crew, flight crew, and dispatch.
  • Comply with all safety procedures.
  • Meet the Station’s attendance standards.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and other FAA Airport required identification/seals or authorizations.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Able to lift and move up to 70 lbs.
  • Work is primarily outdoors; must be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen, color vision test, background check, and other required pre-employment screenings.
  • Must pass background check and obtain US Customs seal.
  • Available and flexible to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
