About the role
As an Inbound Operations Team Leader, no two days are ever the same. You'll be responsible for leading inbound operations, ensuring product is merchandised and available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The role includes leading the inbound team that unloads trailer deliveries and prepares merchandise to be stocked on the sales floor, as well as overseeing replenishment and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas. You'll also lead Food & Beverage and Food Service operations, providing a fresh and food-safe experience, and own pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.
Responsibilities
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience
- Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target's guest experience commitments and consistent operations
- Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments
- Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align team on the right behaviors and execution
- Understand sales goals and plans, and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement
- Lead and share expertise in operations, freshness, accuracy and efficiency
- With guidance from your direct leader, establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable
- Utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring areas are guest ready at store open
- Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns
- Assess all GM backroom, sales floor areas and review reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve issues
- Enable a consistent guest experience by ensuring product is available for purchase
- Assist in leading and following up on organizational and operational change
- Build a team of GM Experts from selection through onboarding and learning; develop team members through ongoing training and direction
- Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead team to work in the same way
- Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, and holding team accountable
- Model the execution of physical security processes to enhance the in-store security culture
- Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store
- If applicable as a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes
- Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities based on store needs
- Address all store and offsite emergency and compliance needs
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive up (DU), including compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws
- All other duties based on business needs
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Age 18 or older
- Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
- Effective communication skills
Schedule
- Variable work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, closing shifts and other peak shopping times
- Full-time role, but hours depend on business needs and may fluctuate (not guaranteed 40 hours each week)
- Reliable and prompt attendance necessary
Physical requirements
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports and information
- Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
- Climb up and down ladders as needed
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting, carrying, and moving merchandise up to 44 pounds throughout the duration of a shift without additional assistance
- Repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, and rotating motions
- Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
