Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day customs brokerage operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of import entries.
- Participate in preparing and filing customs entries as business needs require.
- Review entry documentation for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance prior to submission.
- Monitor customs entry activity and ensure shipments are processed efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, import requirements, and applicable Partner Government Agency (PGA) regulations.
- Monitor and resolve U.S. Customs rejections, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other compliance issues.
- Communicate regulatory updates and changes affecting import operations.
- Maintain high standards of trade compliance and operational accuracy.
- Provide guidance and technical support to Entry Writers and brokerage staff.
- Aid in training, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Cook up workflow and assign work to maintain balanced productivity across the team.
- Support management in maintaining best practices and operational consistency.
- Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, and service quality.
- Partner with leadership on operational improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
- Promote continuous improvement across customs brokerage operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service.
- Help resolve customs-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Maintain effective communication with internal departments regarding shipment status, compliance matters, and operational priorities.
Qualifications
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License (LCB) required.
- 5+ years of Customs Brokerage Operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import procedures, and trade compliance.
- Experience reviewing customs entries for accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or leading Entry Writers.
- Experience developing or improving operational workflows and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
