Import/Export Agent

I.K. Hofmann is seeking an Import Export Agent for a long-term contract position at a cargo facility in Dallas, Texas. This role involves fast-paced warehouse and office work under supervision, with flexibility to work different shifts.

About the role

As an Import Export Agent, you will handle export and import inquiries, documentation, and special cargo while adhering to client procedures and security requirements. The position requires frequent communication with employees and customers to address irregularities and provide instructions.

Responsibilities

• Process export and import inquiries according to client requirements and procedures, including resolving discrepancies at acceptance.
• Prepare and finalize outbound flights/trucks and handle import documentation (delivery, transfer, and abandoned shipments).
• Process all Air Waybills and HAWBs, ensuring accurate data capture as per client requirements.
• Handle Special Cargo and perform Service Recovery activities (e.g., tracing, warehouse checks, offloads).
• Fully support quality standards and work according to documented CHM and GOM procedures.
• Observe and apply security requirements of the client and local authorities.
• Contact customers to inform them of any irregularities.
• Exchange accurate information with employees and perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.

Requirements

• Education: GED/High School diploma desired.
• Work Environment: Office setting with shared workspace.

Job Essential Functions:

• Must remain in a stationary position 75%-100% of the time (8-12.5-hour shifts).
• Occasionally move about inside the office and/or warehouse to access invoices, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., calculator, copier, printer).
• Occasionally move documents weighing up to 50 lbs. from the office to the warehouse.
• Constantly position oneself to maintain computers, including under desks and in the server closet.

Must be eligible to work in the United States for any company without sponsorship.

Pay

Starting pay range: $17.00 - $19.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
