About the role

We are a specialist immigration law firm seeking to hire a law graduate with a view to offering good career progression. You will undertake matters you are deemed competent to conduct, with due regard to your training and experience, with the intention of providing a high-quality service at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Attend upon new prospective clients, obtain matter details, and arrange appointments to secure their instructions, as well as assist with other marketing activities.
  • Attend upon current and former clients and deal with their queries, including:
    • Advising on course(s) of action, length, and cost of case (as appropriate).
    • Assessing client’s financial means and explaining our Private fee-paying terms and conditions.
    • Obtaining instructions and processing their applications, appeals, or other matters.
    • Obtaining and reviewing evidence and statements.
  • Submit applications to the Home Office, Tribunals, Courts, and handle all associated activities.
  • Attend upon clients at Tribunals, Courts, and detention centres if necessary.
  • Draft and/or dictate correspondence to clients, Tribunals, Courts, solicitors, counsel, and other third parties, including Witness Statements, Notices, Applications, and other Legal Forms/Documents.
  • Instruct counsel, solicitor advocates, experts, or other third parties, review documents, and maintain continued liaison as required.
  • Arrange hearings and conferences.
  • Negotiate on clients' behalf and liaise with opponents to obtain the most preferable outcome for clients.
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day progress of all matters, prioritize work as necessary, and keep the client informed on progress.
  • File documents to client files, deal with closed files, and maintain the firm’s closed file records.
  • Comply with all of the firm's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds the requirements of the LAA’s Standard Contract, the SRA Code of Conduct, and Quality Mark standards.
  • Record all work accurately and appropriately on the firm’s computerized time recording system and/or case management system.
  • Perform any other duties as necessary to meet the changing needs, practice areas, and service standards of the Firm’s business.

Requirements

  • Achieved at least a 2.1 degree.
  • No prior immigration casework experience is required; training and supervision will be provided.
  • Ability to manage your own mixed caseload in a hands-on role.
  • Strong team player with the ability to take instructions from more experienced team members.
  • Excellent client-facing skills and a hardworking attitude.

Career Progression
