Job Description
Captures workflow for all radiology modalities, reviews patient wait times, satisfaction, and communication with radiologists. Ensures accuracy of scheduled appointments and proper outpatient preparation for radiographic tests. Collaborates and communicates successfully with entities outside the hospital and acts as a positive representative of the hospital to the community.
Responsibilities
- Schedules special procedures with physicians and physician office staff via phone and fax.
- Reviews tentative schedules and consults with Modality Leader, Lead Nurse, Admissions, radiologists, and others to address scheduling impacts.
- Consults with Director, Lead RN, Radiologist, and Modality Leaders regarding schedule conflicts, concerns, or requests outside established policy.
- Makes reservations within established timeframes for patients not yet admitted.
- Maintains and improves workflow processes with Director approval.
- Supports Radiology Director, Manager, Supervisor, Leads, and Staff Members with projects and duties as needed.
- Assists with front-desk support to minimize wait times and resolves customer service issues by checking in patients and addressing front-line service concerns.
- Performs records release of radiology films and reports to patients or other medical facilities, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Maintains strategic objectives of the radiology department and confirms outpatient appointments.
- Communicates with designated departments for add-on cases if patients are not yet admitted.
Requirements
- Effective oral and written communication skills with customer service skills.
- High level of attention to detail and organization.
- Able to use own judgment and initiative to resolve immediate and urgent problems and expedite patient care as needed.
- Able to interact and deal with challenging situations in dealing with patients and families in a tactful, calm, and professional manner that invites cooperation and communication.
- Able to maintain required level of confidentiality.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to type and perform order entry on HIS System, as well as retrieve information.
- Proficient in use of all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and knowledge of PACS preferred.
- Knowledge of PowerScribe preferred.
- Knowledge of PowerShare preferred.
- Patient transport knowledge preferred.
- Education: Associate degree preferred.
- Field of Study: N/A.
- Work Experience: 2+ years of radiology services or equivalent medical office experience.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS).
