About the role
The Franklin Health Internal Medicine rotation is designed for Family Medicine or Internal Medicine residents, PGY2 or PGY3 level. This 4-week elective provides exposure to unique challenges and opportunities in rural medicine.

Our Practice
- 5 internal medicine physicians
- 1 family medicine physician
- 3 advanced practice practitioners
- Full spectrum psychiatry service (3 psychiatrists and 2 psychiatric nurse practitioners)
- Special interests include dermatology, women’s care, obesity, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and geriatrics/palliative care
- Focus on preventive care and proactive patient relationships
Objectives
- Expose residents to outpatient internal medicine in a rural setting
- Expand skills and clinical experiences through supervised independent patient care
- Experience independent rural medicine in a safe and structured environment
- Learn to manage chronic diseases, acute illnesses, and injuries
- Explore outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, fishing, and exploring natural beauty
On-Site Housing
On-site housing is provided at the Dixon House, free of charge, when space is available. If space is not available, residents can request funds from MERGE to reimburse for housing in Farmington, following MERGE's housing policy.
