ILS Instructor / Independent Living Skills Instructor

About the role

Independent Living Skills Instructor (Full‑Time) position located in Concord, CA and serving clients throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Thrive Support Services, founded in 2007, empowers adults with developmental disabilities to live independently in their homes and chosen communities. In this role you will work one‑on‑one with clients to teach independent living skills, manage a caseload of 3‑6 individuals, and support personalized goals toward independence and community participation. Responsibilities

• Teach independent living skills to clients with developmental disabilities in a one‑on‑one setting.
• Manage a caseload of approximately 3‑6 clients.
• Support clients in achieving personal goals such as money management, medical/dental/medication management, basic cooking and meal preparation, utilizing public transportation, locating affordable housing, obtaining and maintaining benefits (Social Security, Medi‑Cal, Medicare, etc.), community involvement and socialization, and household maintenance.
• Plan and participate in at least one community outing per month with each client to build real‑world skills and social engagement.

Requirements

• A genuine desire to help others.
• Access to a reliable vehicle.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Auto insurance meeting 100k/300k bodily injury liability.
• Ability to pass a DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience or background in IHSS, IHSS Provider, In‑Home Support Services, Caregiver, Home Health Aide, Personal Attendant, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Paraprofessional, Behavioral Therapist, or any work with individuals with developmental disabilities (intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, etc.) is advantageous but not required.

Pay

$20.00 – $25.00 per hour.
