About the role
Independent Living Skills Instructor (Full-Time)
We work one-on-one with people with developmental disabilities to empower your clients to reach their personal goals of independence and community participation. You would teach independent living skills in a motivating, personalized, and professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach independent living skills including money management, medical, dental, and medication management, basic cooking and meal preparation, utilizing public transportation, locating affordable housing, obtaining and maintaining benefits, and community involvement and socialization goals.
- Plan and participate in at least one community outing per month with each client to support real-world skill building, social engagement, and greater independence within the community.
Requirements
- A desire to help others.
- Access to a reliable vehicle, valid drivers license, and auto insurance.
- Pass a DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance.
Qualifications
- No experience required. Training provided.
- Background in social work, social services, mental health, or case management is beneficial.
- Ability to respond to unexpected challenges and think quickly on your feet.
- Comfortable working independently but communicating with your team and supervisor.
- Willingness to learn new things and adapt to changes.
