About the role

Atlas is seeking an IH Technician 1 to support AHERA inspections for New York City Department of Education facilities throughout the five boroughs. In this hands-on field position, you will work alongside experienced investigators to perform asbestos inspections, collect samples, and help maintain safe learning environments for students, educators, and communities.

Responsibilities

• Support AHERA asbestos inspections at NYC school facilities during scheduled project hours (typically 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM).
• Collect bulk samples in accordance with project requirements and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate field documentation and inspection records.
• Assist with the preparation of asbestos management plans and related project deliverables.
• Collaborate with investigators, project teams, and clients to support successful project execution.
• Follow Atlas safety, quality, and compliance standards while working in the field.

Requirements

• Current New York State Asbestos Inspector License.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability and willingness to travel locally and drive as needed for project assignments.
• Ability to read and interpret project documentation, maps, and directions.

Pay

$27.00 hourly rate.

Schedule

Typically 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, varying by project demands.
