About the Role
ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time. Under the direction of a senior IES manager, the IES App Dev Lead will be assigned to the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) within the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) and will develop critical applications to modernize state systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a new data governance app using Spring Boot, as well as other apps that will assist the IES Data Management and Migration Services.
- Train staff members on how to use the new apps and systems.
- Manage the migration of data and services off old mainframe computers to improve system performance.
- Run tests to move services to new background servers.
- Connect backend services to a PostgreSQL database.
- Ensure users experience no changes or downtime during updates.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Six (6) years of experience in broad, expansive Application Development with 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field may substitute for two years of experience.
- A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing code with Java and Spring Boot.
- Knowledge of migrating apps off old mainframe computers.
- Skill in using PostgreSQL databases.
- Ability to teach and train staff.
- Experience working in State Government.
ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless they provide documentation of authorization to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. This position can be filled in Albany or NYC.
