Role Summary
The Charge Nurse supervises nursing activities, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient patient care in accordance with hospital policies and the nursing process.
Responsibilities
- Delegates tasks to staff and auxiliary nurses, supervises clinical records, and manages inventory standards for supplies, medications, and equipment.
- Affords patients using established protocols, monitors vital signs and diagnostics, and initiates appropriate interventions.
- Develops, evaluates, and revises patient care plans involving patients and families, collaborating with the healthcare team.
- Provides patient education, ensures accurate documentation, and acts as a clinical resource and leader within the team.
- Safeguards compliance with safety and infection control standards, manages department operations including admissions and staffing, and identifies opportunities for quality improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active RN license.
- Minimum of two years of critical care nursing experience; charge nurse experience preferred.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, walk, and perform bodily movements during shifts.
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS, PALS, NRP, or other unit-specific certifications may be required.
Pay
Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
