I.T. Public Safety Manager

NATURE OF WORK

This is skilled work operating a Street Sweeper and a variety of other heavy equipment in maintenance of roadways.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS

Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of crew leadership responsibility and from lower classes by its emphasis on the operation of heavy equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Completion of eighth grade
• One year experience operating heavy equipment
• An equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, ability, and skills

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

• A Class B CDL License is required at the time of appointment

NOTES

• This is shift work, schedule is 4:00 am to 2:30 pm
• Work requires physical strength and agility sufficient to safely perform all essential functions
• Work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions
• Work may require performing tasks in and around heavy traffic
• Work may require exposure to hazardous conditions and noxious chemicals
• Work may require exposure to prolonged high noise levels

Essential Job Functions

• Operates heavy equipment, i.e., Street Sweepers, Front End Loaders and 10 wheel Dump trucks in the removal and disposal of material from roadways
• Keeps equipment on vehicles in working order
• Inspects equipment and machinery
• Performs regularly scheduled maintenance and servicing work in connection with the operation of heavy equipment
• Washes, cleans, and vacuums assigned equipment
• Attends work on continuous and regular basis

Non-essential Job Functions

• May perform work of Motor Equipment Operator I and Maintenance Worker classifications
• Performs other related duties as assigned
