Job Description

The Senior Process/Specialty Engineer – HydroMet Engineer performs work requiring advanced knowledge in Hydrometallurgy, focusing on Lithium (Spodumene/Hardrock), Black Mass/Battery Scrap, and Rare Earths processing. The role involves leading project assignments, developing process simulation models, managing lab and pilot scale tests, and interfacing with clients and Fluor project teams.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to develop drawings and specifications for study, feasibility, FEED/EPFC phases, and project execution.
  • Design and manage specialized process simulation models and HMBs for hydrometallurgical flowsheets.
  • Develop Process Technology Quality Plans and Process Activity Plans for various projects.
  • Interface with client representatives, project planners, process engineers, operations and maintenance personnel, and Fluor discipline engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases.
  • Train team members in hydrometallurgical process technology-specific skills.
  • Develop and execute studies as required to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Support Fluor project team members in understanding client technology and participating in technical discussions.
  • Organize and prioritize projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and project objectives and guidelines.
  • Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
  • Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four-year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study with 14 years of work-related experience.
  • Recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in hydrometallurgical processes specific to Lithium, Black Mass/Battery Scrap, and Rare Earths processing.
  • Experience in development and delivery of BFD/PFD and SmartPlant P&IDs.
  • Experience in Metsim, SysCAD, or HSC simulation software.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Hydrometallurgical process flowsheets/Technology with specialization in Lithium (Spodumene/Hardrock), Black Mass/Battery Scrap, and Rare Earth processing.
  • Metsim, SysCAD, or HSC simulation experience in calcination / acid roasting technology related to Lithium or other critical minerals.

Market Rate Statement

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range

$119,500.00 - $222,500.00
