About the role
Barr is seeking a senior hydrogeologist to join one of our Minnesota offices to help with challenging hydrogeology projects.
Responsibilities
- Apply hydrogeology skills on projects related to water supply evaluations, remediation of contaminated groundwater, mine planning and development, and groundwater-surface water interactions.
- Work individually or as a part of a project team to assist with conceptual site model development, numerical modeling, aquifer test performance and analysis, sustainability analysis, and reporting.
- Supervise project teams.
- Fieldwork opportunities may be available and may require some out-of-town travel.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related engineering degree.
- 10 or more years of work experience directly related to groundwater projects in Minnesota or the Upper Midwest; project management and leadership experience with complex projects.
- Strong quantitative and computer skills, including a familiarity with groundwater models or analytical approaches to evaluate hydrogeologic flow and pumping response.
- Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer license in at least one jurisdiction or the ability to achieve a license within two years.
- Driver’s license: possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

- Supports and mentors junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer.
Skills
- Strong quantitative and computer skills, including a familiarity with groundwater models or analytical approaches to evaluate hydrogeologic flow and pumping response.
- Proficiency in GIS and programming experience using Python.

Pay
Ancillary compensation details are provided above. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
Schedule
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing, Minnesota, offices.
Travel Expectation
Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs.
