Hybrid Director of Retail Media
About the role
As Director of Retail Media, you lead the agency side of our business for the digital and omni Walmart accounts and serve as the firm's subject matter expert on the full Walmart digital shelf: catalog and item content, rich media, and advertising both on and off site. This is a hands-on sales role. You will set the strategy for how our clients show up and grow on Walmart.com, run the team that executes it, and sit alongside our broker and account teams so that digital performance and retail performance are managed as one business, not two. Walmart is the growth engine for most of our clients, and the digital shelf is where that growth is won or lost. This role connects the two halves of our business so that clients get one coordinated strategy, delivered by people who know Walmart inside and out.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Walmart agency business
- Own the strategy, delivery, and results of retail media, catalog, and off-site services across all Walmart accounts
- Serve as the senior digital voice in client relationships: annual planning, quarterly business reviews, and growth recommendations
- Partner with broker and account leads so that item, content, and media decisions support the sales plan and replenishment picture
- Define service offerings, scope, and pricing for digital services, and identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts
- Be the Walmart subject matter expert
- Walmart Connect: Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Video, Display, and onsite placements; campaign structure, bidding, keyword harvesting, and budget allocation
- Off-site media: CTV, Google display, DSP, and other programmatic channels that drive Walmart traffic and can be measured against Walmart sales
- Catalog and content: item setup and maintenance in Supplier One, PDP optimization (titles, descriptions, attributes, imagery), rich media, and content scoring
- Measurement: Scintilla / Luminate, Walmart Connect reporting, and third-party tools (Pacvue, Helium 10) to diagnose performance and prove incrementality
- Stay current on Walmart platform, policy, and product changes and translate them into client action
- Lead and develop the team
- Manage, coach, and grow a small team of retail media and content specialists
- Set standards for campaign health, content quality, reporting, and client communication
- Build reusable playbooks, templates, and tooling so the team scales without adding headcount linearly
- Own reporting and insight
- Design the client-facing reporting cadence (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and ensure every deliverable tells a clear story: what happened, why, and what we do next
- Turn data into decisions on spend, item priority, and content investment
- Keep merchant-facing communication grounded in the metrics merchants care about: growth, share, and efficiency ratios rather than raw ad spend
Experience
- 5+ years in eCommerce or retail media, with a strong focus on Walmart
- Deep working knowledge of Walmart applications such as Walmart Connect, Supplier One, and Walmart's content and item requirements (Sam's Club MAP experience is a plus)
- Experience running off-site media (CTV, display, DSP) tied to retailer sales outcomes
- Track record managing multiple brand accounts
- Proven people leadership: you have built or run a team and can develop others
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable working in Excel, ad platforms, and retailer data tools, and able to explain findings to executives
- Clear, concise communicator who can present to brand leadership and work day to day with merchants and account teams
- Bias toward building systems: templates, automation, and process that raise quality and cut turnaround time
