The set schedule

Monday - Friday; 30 hours/week; may require numerous evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the college and program. Classes can occur in the mornings and evenings.

Essential Functions

  • Provide classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in HVAC and related Construction Trades courses in alignment with approved curriculum and industry standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate course materials, assessments, and instructional activities to support student learning and workforce readiness.
  • Maintain a safe instructional environment in compliance with OSHA and college safety requirements.
  • Assess student performance, maintain accurate records, and provide timely feedback.
  • Participate in the Applied Technology Instructional Council and collaborate with department leadership on curriculum, credential review, and program improvement.
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career pathways, and industry certifications.
  • Engage in professional development, college service, and industry partnerships to remain current in HVAC and construction trades.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
  • Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor’s degree or higher OR
  • A Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field
  • A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught

Desired Qualifications

  • A. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a closely related field, or a minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in the HVAC industry.
  • B. Five (5) years of hands-on experience in HVAC air conditioning systems, including commercial and industrial applications.
  • C. Five (5) years of related field experience in medium- to low-temperature commercial refrigeration systems, including supermarket refrigeration and residential systems, where applicable.
  • D. Five (5) years of electrical technology experience, including troubleshooting and working with computer-based controls and automation systems.
  • E. Demonstrated knowledge of current HVAC codes, safety standards, and/or industry best practices.
  • F. Prior teaching, training, mentoring, or workforce development experience preferred.
  • G. One (1) year full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two (2) years.
