Responsibilities

• Teach HET (HVAC/R) courses for programs and certificates
• Create and distribute a course syllabus, teach all required class sessions, and evaluate student progress in line with departmental outcomes and expectations
• Develop instructional materials and assess student learning
• Assign grades and attend required adjunct meetings in the Fall and Spring semesters
• Participate in college governance and other aspects of academic life
• Maintain current knowledge of subject matter and compliance training (e.g., Title IX “Responsible Employee,” Clery Act Campus Security Authority if applicable)
• Select, prepare, and maintain current curriculum, course outlines, and instructional materials
• Teach courses as scheduled each academic semester and provide instructional support to students
• Refer students to specialized services within the college when appropriate
• Provide students with a syllabus outlining course objectives, learning outcomes, attendance policies, texts, timelines, evaluation criteria, and other required information
• Observe and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, discussions, or examinations, and provide timely feedback
• Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles
• Maintain office, discipline, grade, and division records as required by the college
• Be available for student consultation via phone or email
• Resolve and document student complaints, concerns, and problems using college policies and procedures
• Assist in developing and administering discipline-appropriate measures of student academic achievement
• Use departmental testing instruments and other tools to measure student learning outcomes, providing results as requested
• Conduct all classes in accordance with an established and current course syllabus and approved textbooks or related instructional material
• Meet all classes for the scheduled time and submit grades (mid/final) electronically prior to deadlines
• Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review feedback, and use it to improve course delivery
• Revise and update course content as needed
• Participate in program advisory boards, college, division, and department committees when appropriate
• Maintain a high level of professional ethics
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or higher in HVAC/R Technology or a closely related field AND minimum 2 years (4,000 hours) recent industry work experience
• OR certificate in HVAC/R AND minimum 5 years (10,000 hours) recent industry work experience
• Some course minimum qualifications can be met with EPA 608 industry certification AND minimum 10 years (20,000 hours) recent work experience with a demonstrated track record in one or more specific areas of the HVAC/R industry relevant to the class being taught
