Job Summary
This position is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC systems while delivering high-quality customer service.
Essential Functions
- HVAC Service & Repair - Diagnose and repair commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including: Rooftop units (RTUs), Split and packaged systems, Chillers (air-cooled and/or water-cooled), Boilers and hydronic systems, Make-up air units, VAV systems and related terminal devices. Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting on motors, contactors, relays, VFDs, and control circuits. Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend repair or replacement options to customers.
- Preventative Maintenance & System Performance - Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) per company standards. Inspect and service filters, belts, bearings, coils, refrigerant circuits, electrical components, and safeties. Identify energy efficiency improvements and operational upgrades.
- Customer Interaction & Documentation - Communicate professionally with customers regarding findings, recommendations, and repair options. Build long-term customer relationships through reliability and technical expertise. Accurately complete service tickets, inspection forms, and digital documentation. Work closely with dispatch, service management, and parts departments.
- Safety & Professional Standards - Follow all company and OSHA safety requirements. Utilize proper PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures. Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and jobsite.
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotation (after-hours and emergency service).
- Manage workload efficiently to meet customer and company expectations.
- Travel to customer sites throughout the service area.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (technical school or apprenticeship preferred)
- 3–7+ years commercial or industrial HVAC service experience
- Strong refrigeration, airflow, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops
- Ability to work indoors/outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Troubleshoot and adjust HVAC control systems
- Read and interpret: Wiring diagrams, Schematics, Equipment sequences of operation, Calibrate sensors, thermostats, and safety devices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with chillers, boilers, or large tonnage systems
- BAS / DDC controls experience
- Manufacturer training and certifications
- Boiler and/or Chiller highlighted experience
- Mentoring junior technicians
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
